Haitian Metal Art
Crafted primarily from recycled steel oil drums, these other-worldly and often symbolic wall art accents are sure to inspire conversation and admiration. The designs are chalked out on flattened steel oil drums and then cut out with a mallet and chisel. Many depict the natural world order in a country so in tune with water, foliage and colorful avian creatures. Others reflect celestial bodies, a greater presence, unity and love.
These sculptures are made to be used inside or outside. Outside they will eventually begin to turn a beautiful patina, but a coat of clear gloss varnish every 18 to 24 months will help preserve the original finish. We recommend Krylon Crystal Clear. It also removes scratches. The painted pieces should not be used outdoors.
